Adam Sorab, President
Adam is Head of Technical Research and Head of Investor Relations at CQS, a hedge fund management company in London. He is also a Member of the Investment Committee of the BUPA Pension Fund in London. Prior to this he was Director of Absolute Return Strategies at Deutsche Asset Management and Director of Leveraged Funds Management at Credit Suisse First Boston in London. Before this, Adam worked as a currency and interest rate derivatives trader for Schroders in London.
Adam holds a BSc (Hons) in Economics from the London School of Economics. He also holds FSTA and CFTe qualifications in technical analysis. Adam is a Fellow of the Society of Technical Analysts (STA) and is currently a Director of the STA; having served as its Chairman from 1999 to 2009.
Shigetoshi Haneda, Vice President Asia
Shigetoshi is a lecturer on technical analysis at Osaka University of Economics in Osaka and the Kinzai Institute for Financial Affairs in Tokyo. Prior to this he worked for twelve years as a Portfolio Manager and Director of Research at Seiyu Investment Management in Tokyo.
Shigetoshi holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from the Musashi Institute of Technology. He also holds a CFTe qualification in technical analysis. Shigetoshi is a member, an International Manager and a Director of the Nippon Technical Analysts Association (NTAA).
Ayman Waked, Vice President Middle East & Africa
Ayman is Head of Trading for Beltone Asset Management in Cairo. He is also teaches technical analysis at the Banking and Finance Department of the American University in Cairo and the Egyptian Banking Institute. Prior to this, he was Chief Technical Analyst at EFG-Hermes Investment Bank in Cairo and Chief Technical Analyst at SIGMA Capital in Cairo. He was also Technical Analysis Instructor for the Libyan Stock Exchange.
Ayman holds both MFTA and CFTe qualifications in technical analysis. He is a member and former President of the Egyptian Society of Technical Analysts (ESTA).
Maurizio Milano, Vice President Europe
Maurizio is the Head of Technical Research at Banca Sella Group in Milan and a Journalist. Prior to establishing this research team in 2000, he was a Foreign Exchange Trader at Banca Sella from 1995. Maurizio is also visiting Professor in Technical Analysis at the University of Turin and a regular columnist and commentator on technical analysis in the Italian financial print and broadcast media.
Maurizio holds a Degree in Economics from the University of Turin. He is a member and Director of Societa Italiana di Analisi Tecnica (SIAT).
Tim Bradley, Vice President Americas
Tim is CEO and Portfolio Manager for Dynamic Trading Management, a hedge fund management company based in White Plains, NY. He is also a Managing Member of Managed Funds Solutions, a specialist software company serving the commodity trading industry. Prior to this Tim was a Senior Portfolio Manager at Citibank in New York and a Client Representative at CPC Securities in Hartsdale.
Tim holds a BSc in Organic Chemistry and a BS Bus in Economics from the State University of New York, Oneonta. He also holds CMT qualification in technical analysis and is a member of the American Association of Professional Technical Analysts (AAPTA).
Michael Steele, Treasurer
Michael is the Managing Partner of Steele Investment Counsel Ltd, an Ohio based investment advisory firm specialising in the use of technical research for managing money. Prior to this Mike was the CIO of Bank One Trust Company in Columbus Ohio. Before joining Banc One, he worked in a number of senior positions in the investment management industry including: Vice President & Senior Portfolio Manager at Bernstein-Macaulay in NY, Vice President & Division Head of Trust Investments at the First National Exchange Bank of Virginia and Portfolio Manager at Virginia Investment Counselors. Mike began his career in finance in 1967 as a Trust Investment Officer at the First National Exchange Bank of Virginia.
Mike holds a BS in Business Administration (Finance) from Virginia Tech and an MBA (Finance) from Old Dominion University, Virginia. Mike is a member and past Board member of the American Association of Professional Technical Analysts (AAPTA). He is also a member of the Market Technicians Association (MTA) and the CFA Institute.
Saleh Nasser, Secretary
Saleh is Chief Technical Strategist at Pharos Holding Securities in Cairo. He also teaches Technical Analysis at Cairo University, the Egyptian Banking Institute and the Arab Union of Stock Exchanges. Prior to this he was Chief Technical Strategist at Commercial International Brokerage in Cairo.
Saleh holds a CMT qualification in technical analysis. He is the current President of the Egyptian Society of Technical Analysts (ESTA); having previously served as ESTA's Head of Education and Treasurer.
Larry Lovrencic, Membership Director
Larry is Executive Director of First Pacific Securities in Sydney. Prior to this he was the Editor of the Institutional FX publications. He has co-authored two books; Charting for Dummies and FX Trading - an Australian Guide to Trading Foreign Exchange.
Larry is a Senior Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia (FINSIA) and holds a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment. He also holds a Diploma in Technical Analysis from the Australian Technical Analysts Association (ATAA) and a CFTe from IFTA. He is a lecturer, examiner and Advisory Committee Chair for the Kaplan level 1 and level 2 IFTA accredited technical analysis course. Larry is a Life Member and Board Director of the ATAA.
Rolf Wetzer, Syllabus Director
Rolf heads two departments at Bank Sarasin's institutional asset management in Basel, Switzerland: Bonds and Rule Controlled Investments. He is also a Lecturer in Quantitative Trading Strategies at Technical University of Berlin and Toulouse Business School. Prior to this, he was a Senior Fund Manager for foreign exchange and interest rate funds at MunichRe Asset Management in Munich/Germany. Before this Rolf worked at Dresdner Asset Management as a Portfolio Manager for both balanced and fixed income portfolios.
Rolf holds a PhD in econometrics from Technical University of Berlin and graduate degrees in Business Administration from both Technical University of Berlin/Germany and the Toulouse Business School/France. He was awarded by the VTAD (German IFTA society) as best German Technical Analyst in 2006 and was runner up in 2007. Rolf is a member of the Swiss Association of Market Technicians (SAMT) and the German Statistical Society.
Gregor Bauer, Examination Management Director
Gregor is an independent Portfolio Manager working for a range of private and institutional investors in Germany. He is also a Lecturer in Technical Analysis and Portfolio Management at the University of Liechtenstein, Frankfurt School of Management and the Bavarian Sparkassenakademie. He has also authored a book on trading financial markets, Praxisratgeber Trading, published in 2005.
Gregor holds degrees in both Chemistry and Economics from the University of Mainz. He also holds a CFTe qualification in technical analysis. Gregor is a member and Chairman of the Vereinigung Technischer Analysten Deutschlands (VTAD).
Roberto Vargas, Exam Accreditation Director
Roberto is a Private Banker for BBVA Compass in Houston, Texas. Prior to this he was a Commercial Banker at Regions Bank in Houston, and a Foreign Exchange Manager at Banco Nacional de Mexico in New York after having worked as International Treasury Manager in the bank's London branch. Before this, he spent 11 years working for a variety of international banks in London as a Proprietary Trader in foreign exchange markets.
Roberto holds an MA in Latin American Studies and International Law from the University of London. He also holds MSTA and CFTe qualifications in technical analysis. He is a member of the Society of Technical Analysts (STA).
Elaine Knuth, Conference Director
Elaine is Managing Director at AQX Securities and Advisor to the Board of AQ Advisors in Zurich. Prior to this, she was a Managing Partner of the Zurich Commodity Trading Advisory, Stewart Capital Management. Prior to starting her career in financial markets in 1996, Elaine worked as a journalist from 1978 for a wide variety of publications including Cosmopolitan Magazine, Rolling Stone Magazine, Investors World, Forbes Magazine and the Journal of European Business.
Elaine holds a BAAS in Communications and Journalism from the University of Delaware. She has published on Technical Analysis and TA Software development and is a member of both the Swiss Association of Market Technicians (SAMT) and the American Association of Professional Technical Analysts (AAPTA). Elaine was President of IFTA from 2007 to 2010.
Regina Meani, Journal Director
Regina is a freelance consultant providing technical research and market analysis for institutional and private investors and to the media. Prior to this she was Associate Director and Technical Analyst at Deutsche Bank's Australian Equities Division. Before this, Regina was Chief Chartist at Bain Securities for 16 years. Regina's book, Charting - An Australian Investor's Guide, was first published in 1990 and is now in its third edition. She lectures for the Financial Services Institute of Australia (FINSA), the Australian Stock Exchange and Fairfax Media.
Regina holds MSTA and CFTe qualifications in technical analysis. She is a Director of the Australian Technical Analysts Association (ATAA) and a member of the Society of Technical Analysts (STA).
Peter Pontikis, Director
Peter is an Alternative Investment Management Specialist at ANZ Private Bank in Brisbane. Peter's previous roles included Group Treasury Strategist for Suncorp Australia, Head of Trading & Research for a hedge fund and Senior Financial Markets Strategist for Westpac Investment Bank. Prior to this, he ran an investment consultancy business. Peter is also a Senior Fellow of FINSIA and sits on their National Policy Advisory Council. He is also a Committee Member on CPA Australia's Finance and Treasury Centre of Excellence Committee. He has co-authored several books on foreign exchange and trading in financial markets.
Peter is a CPA and holds a Graduate Diploma in Investment Management from the Australian Securities Institute, a B Ec in Economics & Economic Statistics and an MA in Historiography from the University of Sydney and a BA (Hons) in Modern Greek & History from the University of New England. He is a member of Society of Technical Analysts New Zealand (STANZ) and has been a foundation lecturer and examiner for the Kaplan level 1 and 2 IFTA accredited technical analysis courses since 1995. He was president of the Australian technical analysts Association 2000-2002.
Veronique Lashinski, Director
Veronique is Vice President and Senior Research Analyst at Newedge USA LLC in Chicago. Prior to this she worked at Cargill as a Commodity Broker in London and Chicago.
Veronique holds an MSc in Management from Ecole de Management de Lyon. She holds a CMT qualification in Technical Analysis and is a member and former Treasurer and Director of the American Association of Professional Technical Analysts (AAPTA).
Hiroshi Okamoto, Director
Hiroshi has been involved in equity research for over 50 years. He is currently President of Okamoto Office, a Guest Professor in Equity Research at the Osaka University of Economics and a Vice Chairman of the Tokyo Stock Exchange Pen Club. Prior to this he was a Director and General Investment Manager at Nomura Investment Management in Tokyo.
Hiroshi holds a degree in Economics from the Konan University in Kobe and an MFTA qualification in technical analysis. He is a member and former Chairman of the Nippon Technical Analysts Association (NTAA) and also an honorary member of the Canadian Society of Technical Analysts (CSTA). Hiroshi and was President of IFTA from 2000 to 2003.
Marc Michiels, Director
Marc is CEO of Novadvice, a quantitative institutional advisor based in Santiago, Chile. Prior to this, he was Institutional Advisor at Expert Timing Systems in Madrid.
Marc holds and Executive program from IESE Business School in Madrid and a Bachelor Degree in Economics from ICHEC in Brussels. He is a member and manager of the Asociacion Espanola de Analistas Tecnicos (AEAT).
Julius DeKempenaer, Director
Julius is a Director of Taler Investment Consulting in Amsterdam. Prior to this he was Head of Technical Analysis at Kempen & Co. in Amsterdam. Before this, Julius was Head of Technical Analysis at Amstgeld Effectenbank, Amsterdam and Rabobank International, Utrecht. He began his career in the financial markets in 1990 a Portfolio Manager at Equity & Life Insurance in the Hague, after having served several years in the Dutch Air Force.
Julius holds a post graduate qualification in Portfolio Construction and Asset Allocation from the FREE University of the Netherlands and a degree in Economics from the Dutch Royal Military Academy. Julius is a member and Chairman of the Dutch Commission of technical Analysis (DCTA).
Wang Tao, Director
Wang Tao is a private trader. He also teaches technical analysis at the Singapore Stock Exchange. Prior to this Wang worked as a Technical Analyst at UBS, Man Financial, Refco and the Industrial & Commercial Bank of China in Singapore.
Wang holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Leicester. He is a member and President of the Technical Analysis Society of Singapore (TASS).
Max von Lichtenstein, Director
Max is CEO and Head of Technical Research at Safe Return, an asset management company in Stockholm, Sweden. Prior to this, he was Head of Research at stockbrokers, Michael Ostlund & Co in Stockholm. Max also taught Algorithm Based Trading at Uppsala University and he has authored one of the chapters in Thomas Stridsman's book, Trading Systems that Work.
Max holds a Master of Science in Economics from Uppsala University. He is a member and President of the Scandinavian Technical Analysts Federation (STAF).
Gerald Butrimovitz, Director
Gerry is the President and founder of Gerald Butrimovitz and Associates Advisory Service, a Registered Investment Advisory Service. He is also a member of the Santa Clara Estate Planning Council and the San Francisco Estate Planning Council. In addition, Gerry serves on numerous non-profit boards and committees in the San Francisco Bay Area. Prior to this he worked as an Assistant Professor at the University of California, San Francisco and served as an honorary Congressional Fellow to the United States Senate to both Senator Don Riegle and Senator Ted Kennedy.
Gerry holds a PH.D. from the University of Maryland. He also holds a CMT qualification in technical analysis. Gerry is a member, President Emeritus and former President of the Technical Securities Analyst Association (TSAA).
Antonella Sabatini, Director
Antonella is the CEO and Financial Officer of Finbest, a family office based in Florence, Italy. She is also an actively engaged in a number of research projects including collaborations with the Department of Physics at the University of Boston and the Department of Economics at the University of Parma. In addition, Antonella works with Massachusetts Institute of Technology as an Educational Counselor for Switzerland and as a guest lecturer in Portfolio Management and Quantitative Finance.
Antonella holds an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florence and a B.S. in Mathematics, Electrical Engineering and Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She is a member of Societa Italiana di Analisi Tecnica (SIAT).
